Rencently, the Taozi Bay Wastewater, Reclaimed Water and Sludge Circular Economy Demonstration Project, constructed under the leadership of Wanhua Chemical, has recently been awarded the China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award — the highest honor in China's civil engineering and technological innovation sector. The award represents high-level recognition of excellence in engineering quality, technological innovation, and comprehensive social benefits.
Nine years of dedicated craftsmanship, eleven sub-projects, one integrated circular system.
Bringing together wastewater treatment, reclaimed water reuse, and sludge resource recovery, the project has established a complete closed-loop system of "wastewater – reclaimed water – sludge – resources." Throughout construction, the project team pursued continuous process optimization and technological upgrades, deploying advanced membrane treatment technologies and exploring viable pathways for the resource utilization of large-scale wastewater treatment facilities.
Through a combination of sludge fermentation power generation, photovoltaic solar power, and sewage-source heat pump heating, the project achieves coordinated resource recycling and energy utilization, cutting CO₂ emissions by 56,620.75 tonnes per year.
