Achievements

Regarding innovation, Wanhua has applied for more than 6200 invention patents at home and abroad. We have earned many honors and prizes awarded by the relevant state departments: an Innovative Enterprise, a Technological Innovation Demonstration Enterprise, as well as the third place on the list of the Top 100 National Innovative Enterprises in 2012, a Pilot Engineering Enterprise of the Top 100 National Innovative Enterprises as assessed by nine ministries and commissions including the National Development and Reform Commission in 2016, and top on the list of the Top 100 Innovative High-tech Enterprises in Shandong Province in 2018.

Wanhua has over 4,000 scientific researchers. Among them, 210 are Ph.D. holders and 2,300 have master's degrees. 40 of our more than 150 high-caliber technical personnel have received accolades for Outstanding Professional Technical Talent, National Model Worker, etc., or won honorary awards such as the Science and Technology Award by the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, the Science and Technology Award for Chinese Youth, and the Outstanding Youth Award of the Qiu Shi Science and Technology Commercialization Award.


At present, Wanhua has become an innovative company integrating basic research, process development, engineering, and product and application development. Our professional R&D institutes mainly include the Wanhua Group Global R&D Center, High Performance Materials Research Institute, and Polyurethane Application Research Institute, Chemical Design Institute, the North American Technical Center, and the Technical Center in Gödöllő, Hungary.

    National Engineering Center for Polyurethane

    China's Ministry of Science and Technology approved the establishment of the National Engineering Center for Polyurethane in February 2009. Wanhua Chemical Group Co., Ltd. is the supporting organization for the Center. In December 2012, the Center passed the acceptance inspection.

  • State Key Laboratory for Polymer Surface Material Preparative Technology

    Upon the approval by the National Development and Reform Commission, Wanhua Chemical Group Co., Ltd. spearheaded the joint establishment of the State Engineering Laboratory for Polymer Surface Material Preparative Technology with the Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fudan University, and the Beijing University of Chemical Technology at the end of December 2016.

National Engineering Center for Polyurethane

China's Ministry of Science and Technology approved the establishment of the National Engineering Center for Polyurethane in February 2009. Wanhua Chemical Group Co., Ltd. is the supporting organization for the Center. In December 2012, the Center passed the acceptance inspection.

 The Center is committed to technological innovation in various important fields such as PU raw materials, intermediates, materials, applications, and technologies. It has established five core R&D divisions: the Technology Development Unit, Product Development Unit, Equipment and Process Optimization Unit, Chemical Process Research Institute, and Polyurethane Application Research Institute. These core divisions have established an integrated organizational structure to combine various elements including basic research, engineering development, and R&D for product application. 

In the future, the Center will continue its efforts in R&D and commercialization of new products and technologies for the Chinese PU industry, constantly driving advancements in the main raw materials and manufacturing technologies for PU. The Center will also foster environmentally friendliness, high-performance, and sustainable development in the PU industry, and develop into a world-class engineering technology research center.

State Key Laboratory for Polymer Surface Material Preparative Technology

Upon the approval by the National Development and Reform Commission, Wanhua Chemical Group Co., Ltd. spearheaded the joint establishment of the State Engineering Laboratory for Polymer Surface Material Preparative Technology with the Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fudan University, and the Beijing University of Chemical Technology at the end of December 2016.

In the future, the State Engineering Laboratory will continue to enhance its innovative capacity, to develop into an engineering research center that integrates the development of preparation and engineering technologies for key monomers, special additives, environmentally friendly high-performance resins, as well as R&D in environmentally friendly high-performance polymer surface materials and innovation in their applications and technologies. The Laboratory will facilitate enterprise-oriented close cooperation among industry, academia, and research institutes with a technological innovation alliance, providing world-leading infrastructure and innovative environment.
