Wanhua Chemical Joins Together for Sustainability Initiative

On February 21, 2019, the Together for Sustainability (TfS) Steering Committee meeting was held in Shanghai. Wanhua Chemical attended the meeting. Also present at the meeting were Mr. Li Shousheng, head of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, representatives from the TfS Board, and Chief Procurement Officers of TfS member companies. 
 
Wanhua Chemical joined the initiative as the 23rd member and the first China-based chemical company. During the meeting, Wanhua Chemical shared the company’s sustainability journey and stated strong commitment to work with the other members on the joint vision of TfS: to improve sustainability within the chemical industry supply chains.
 
Mr. Ruediger Eberhard, TfS President and CPO of Evonik Industries, and member companies extended a warm welcome to Wanhua Chemical. The joining of Wanhua Chemical has brought a new momentum and an expanded global reach for the TfS initiative. As Mr. Li Shousheng mentioned in his speech, “China’s economy has transitioned to sustainable development. Joining the TfS initiative not only benefits Wanhua Chemical, but helps promote sustainability across the entire chemical industry of China.”
 
In the future, Wanhua Chemical will continue the journey towards sustainable growth. The company will maintain its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) and engage more of its suppliers in driving sustainability within its global supply chains. By incorporating sustainability efforts into Chinese supply chains, Wanhua Chemical aims at improving sustainability practices within the chemical industry supply chains, both in China and globally.

TfS AISBL is a joint initiative of chemical companies for sustainable supply chains. It was founded in 2011 to develop and implement a global program to assess, audit and improve sustainability practices within the supply chains of the chemical industry. Currently it has 23 member companies worldwide and intends to grow globally. TfS is a partner company of Cefic. The TfS Initiative strives to achieve mutual benefits for both its member companies and their suppliers. In doing so, social and environmental conditions are to be continuously improved for the benefit of all relevant stakeholders, including employees, neighborhoods, local communities and society as a whole.
