On June 30th, BorsodChem's Site IV and new production units were officially handed over. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mr. Szijjártó Péter, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Mr. Joó István, CEO of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency, Mr. Demeter Zoltán, Parliamentary Representative, Ms. Wu Dan, representative of the Chinese Embassy in Hungary, as well as local mayors, government officials, community representatives, and partners.
The construction of the new site and units began five years ago, aiming to create a complete industrial chain and supporting infrastructure for the company. The investment includes the construction of nitrobenzene and aniline production facilities in the new site, utilizing the best available technologies (BAT) globally to ensure environmentally friendly, excellent product quality, high operational safety, and cost-effectiveness. The new facilities align with the sustainable development strategy announced earlier this year by strengthening the vertical integration of MDI production and contributing to the added value of their products. In addition to the aniline and nitrobenzene projects, the second new cogeneration power plant is also put into use, doubling the company's generation capacity to meet the company's growing demand for heat and electricity while further considering the transition to green energy.
Szijjártó Péter, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, has expressed his value on BorsodChem. As the largest employer in the region, BorsodChem is playing a vital role in supporting and protecting local employment, and contributing significantly to the economic status of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County. Hungary has provided a favourable investment environment for Chinese companies, and it is hoped that BorsodChem can serve as a successful example of China-Hungary cooperation, replicating a fruitful partnership and becoming a hub for Eastern and Western enterprises in Europe.
