Wanhua Chemical has developed a bio-based thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) product with a bio-content range up to 98%. This is the world first TPU product that made from 100% biomass- sourced raw material.
This Wanthane® TPU product is processed from bio-based PDI that derived from non-edible corn stalks, other materials are also from renewable resources like corn and castor seed. This product will contribute to the green transformation in the fields of footwear, films, consumer electronics and food-contact, with its excellent properties in mechanical performance, flexibility and good resistance to oil and yellowing. As a milestone in the pursuit of bio-based materials, the carbon footprint of the downstream products can be largely reduced by applying this innovative product.
Called by the diverse needs of customers, Wanhua Chemical has launched a series of TPU products in which the bio content proportion varies from 10% to 98%. In the future, we will continue pursuing sustainability from the origins of the materials and strive to facilitate the low-carbon industrial chain alongside with both upstream and downstream partners.
