The rigid polyurethane (PU) foam recycling pilot plant at Wanhua Chemical kicked off in July, which is a milestone for its efforts to implement PU recycling and reuse.
The waste PU material is used to produce high-compatible repolyol through chemical processes, which can be directly used for foaming, same as the origin polyol. The process significantly reduces carbon emissions with no compromise on product properties and performance. It opens a new channel for industries like refrigeration, mattress or automobile dismantling to deal with the waste PU foam and empower the value chain both in economic and environmental aspects. Besides, Wanhua Chemical has produced qualified repolyol in the laboratory using soft PU foam recycling technology and its pilot production can start next year.
In the future, Wanhua Chemical will continue to develop PU recycling solution and head to circular economy.
