Wanhua Chemical Shines at the Global Conference of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Process Safety Center

From March 23rd to 27th, 2024, the 24th Annual Meeting of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and the 20th Global Conference of the American Chemical Process Safety Center (CCPS) were held in New Orleans. Mr. Chen Yifeng, Senior Vice President of Wanhua Chemical, was invited to share the valuable experience in process safety management at the Chinese venue, contributing to the industry's efforts in creating a safer and more reliable production environment.

The meeting discussed three aspects: the construction of process safety capabilities, practical applications, and empowering process safety through intelligent manufacturing. Mr. Chen emphasized that Wanhua Chemical adheres to a safety-first approach. By continuously enhancing employees' safety awareness and skills through professional training, Wanhua Chemical has built a specialized team for process safety management. We employ a full lifecycle process risk management strategy, which involves establishing a Process Safety Research Center and conducting PHA to comprehensively identify and prevent potential risks. Additionally, the company actively utilizes advanced tools such as LOPA and QRA for PHA analysis. We also verify the safety instrumented functions through SIL validation, further optimizing process control and interlock systems to ensure the stability and safety of the production process, thus raising the overall safety standards of the industry.

Meanwhile, Wanhua Chemical is closely following the trend of development, leveraging intelligent manufacturing to enhance the ability of process safety management. It has established a roadmap for intelligent manufacturing that emphasizes standardization, automation, digitization, intelligence, and AI. Projects such as APC, sequential control, ROC, and QPS have been implemented as part of this intelligent manufacturing initiative. By digitizing management and implementing intelligent control in the production process, Wanhua Chemical aims to enhance production reliability and stability, providing strong support for the sustainable development of safety management.
